Cash
How long does the money last?
Runway is the plainest number in a business. What's in the bank, divided by what leaves it each month after what comes in.
Build the full cash plan with the numbers below already in, or change them first.
Revenue moves the answer, but only the part of it you keep. Sell $6,000 in a month at a 60 percent gross margin, and $3,600 of that is there to cover the spend. The rest went straight back out as the cost of what you sold.
What comes out below is arithmetic on the four numbers you type, not a forecast. Change one and the month moves.
What you've got, and how long it holds
- Months of runway6.9
- The money runs out in-
- What leaves the bank each month, after sales$14,400
Making it reach further
- Spend no more than$11,933
- Which is less than you spend now by$6,067
Cutting the spend by $6,067 a month is what it takes to reach that month on the cash you have.
What the full model adds
- Cash month by month with the timing in it: when customers actually pay you, when suppliers get paid, when tax falls due.
- The lowest cash balance across three years and the month it happens, which is rarely the month you'd guess.
- A line of credit that draws when cash would drop below a floor you set, and pays itself back when cash recovers.
- The balance sheet under the cash, so every dollar has somewhere to have come from.
Building a plan is free. Saving it to an account, Excel and the print pack come with a paid plan, and the pricing page lists what each one holds.
